hop up out the bed, turn your [swag] on: how to wake up feeling refreshed

if we want to stay pretty in black, intelligent too, a socialite, living the good life, AND run this , we have to get our beauty rest ! sleep feeds our brains and our bodies, and enough of it takes us one step closer to being queens. we look better, are less moody and are able to function better in [school, sports, dance, work, etc.]  WAKA works for this little guy, but
here are some tips for you to wake up feeling great and ready to take over the world:

  • try to get at least  8 1/2 hours of sleep.  that means if you have be up at 6AM for school, start catching ZzZzZs  at about 9:30.  it may sound wild early, but give it a try one night this week and see how much better you feel in the morning.
  • create a sleep-friendly environment. turn off your TV, close your your blind/curtains, put your cell phone on silent. a good rest is your top priority.
  • stop eating, exercising and studying at least two hours before you hit the sack.  give your body time to wind down and you'll get a more sound sleep.  personally, if i eat pizza or have milk before bed, i have the worst nightmares -- don't do it to yourself !
  • whenever i'm having trouble falling asleep, i prop my feet up on a pillow, blanket or stuffed animal, take deep breaths, and squeeze my muscles all the way up my body starting with my little toes. i don't know why it works, but it does.
  • NAPS.  they aren't just for the little man in the video.  naps >>> than shots of energy drinks.  just don't take them in school -- wait until you get home and then zone out.  you'll thank me later.
